British costume designer Tiny Nicholls has died aged 90

19-Jul-2012 • Bond News

British costume designer Tiny Nicholls has died at the age of 90.

Nicholls was costume/wardrobe supervisor on 41 films in his career, five of which were consecutive James Bond films, from "The Man With The Golden Gun" in 1974 though "The Living Daylights" in 1987, working with Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton during their tenures.

He also worked on productions with 007 alumni Sean Connery ("Outland", 1981) and Pierce Brosnan ("The Fourth Protocol", 1987 and "Death Train", 1993).

His first film as Costume Designer was on "Revenge of the Pink Panther" in 1978, and he would work under that credit for a further nine movies.

His resume is rich with classic movies, including "Straw Dogs" (1971), "The Omen" (1976), "Alien" (1979), "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980), "The Elephant Man" (1980) and "Aliens" (1986). His last credit was in 2000 for the TV movie "In the Beginning".

Tiny Nicholls passed away this week after a short battle with cancer.
