Matt Damon and Paul Greegrass to shoot a new Bourne film next year

09-Nov-2014 • Bond News

Quizzed by E! Online this week, Matt Damon confirmed he would be back playing the anti-Bond, CIA agent Jason Bourne.

The news first came to light via collaborator Ben Affleck when he noted: ""Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So…."

Damon himself confirmed the news: "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

Until this point it was understood that Greengrass was uninterested in helming another Bourne, and that Damon was only interested in the franchise if it was headed by the director of "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Supremacy".

As bloggers at HMSS noted, during the height of his time as the ex-CIA operative, Damon was vocal about his dislike of the Ian Fleming character. But with a 2016 release, Bond and Bourne will not by vying for box office dollars in the near future.
