Bond 24 plans change, locals doubt Campania region will play host to 007

20-Nov-2014 • Spectre (2015)

The local reporters in Caserta, Campania, Italy were hoping for their city to play host to the filmmakers of Bond 24. Now they are not so certain that the shoot will go ahead as planned. Local press speculate that "organisational issues" or a script rewrite have cut them out of the schedule for Bond 24, but nothing is certain at this stage.

Last month news emerged from Bond 24's local representatives in the region that the production was hoping to shoot in Caserta and secure work for 1,000 or more people. Police were even consulted about the work that was to be done.

Whilst pre-production forges ahead in Austria and Rome, with the Lazio Film Commission working closely with the UK crew to ready the Italian capital is ready for their arrival, nothing of the kind is observable in Caserta.

MI6 understands that Rome will be used for a car chase sequence.

Although it will be the first time James Bond has visited Rome on screen, Daniel Craig's era of 007 is no stranger to Italy. Venice was a major location in 'Casino Royale', and Lake Como was also in Craig's debut and the follow up 'Quantum of Solace'. The 2008 film also used Siena and Lake Garda as locations in the pre-title sequence.
