Bond Girl rumour #11: Rachael Stirling screentested for Vesper Lynd role

10-Jan-2006 • Casino Royale

MEDIA RUMOUR
According to The Sun, British actress Rachael Stirling is being lined up as the next James Bond Girl, following in the footsteps of her mum Diana Rigg.

The actress, star of BBC drama Tipping The Velvet, has been screen tested to star opposite new 007 Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

Diana, 67, starred as Teresa Di Vicenzo, who married Bond (George Lazenby) in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969.

An "insider" told the paper, "Rachael’s dark sultry looks and pedigree as an actress make her a favourite with producers. Diana is a legendary Bond girl and bosses think Rachael has the same sexy appeal".

The paper also claims Mission Impossible II star Thandie Newton was approached, but Rachael is favourite.

MI6 can now reveal that Stirling has been up for the Vesper role since October 2005.
