Mexican casting agency denies Bond girl casting news, but no specifics

15-Nov-2007 • Quantum Of Solace

In a reaction to this week's story that actress Mayrin Villanueva has been cast as in the 22nd James Bond film - news that came from her husband appearing on national television - the local casting agency has distanced themselves from the 'revelations'.

Ricardo Hernandez, a representative from the casting agency in Mexico (used by the production's casting agent Carla Hool), said that as the casting process was confidential, all statements made about the status of actresses and the roles have "no foundation".

Hernandez said, "as some actresses have been been making false statements about the process of casting and generating unsubstantiated news, I feel the need to dispel some of these assertions."

The company says that is had no interest in being associated with actresses who made the initial casting, but were not called to the callback because their performance was poor or their grasp of English was at a very low level.

"We do deem it fair that someone who had the opportunity to belong to a foreign film, and was summoned to a casting, should crash that opportunity to become more famous," he concluded.

Mayrin Villanueva was not specifically mentioned.
