Prague Press Conference
Eon Productions and their local co-producers StillKing Films will be holding a press conference today in Prague.

The small event has only been opened up to 30 local journalists, and when news of the press conference was leaked in Variety, swarms of international press were trying to get a piece of the action. But due to the small capacity and local interest in the film, only Czech media will be present.

Rather than unveiling high profile cast members, the press conference is to be used to say "thank you" to the host country, which the production will be returning to in March for shooting in Barrandov Studios. The PR good-will follows complaints by local residents over excessive noise and traffic caused by the production.

Lucky reporters who make it in to the press conference will have some time to interview actors and will visit the set that is being used for filming today.

Variety broke the news of the press conference late last night. The report said, "though Sony claims no casting will be announced, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson could use the occasion to unveil its long-awaited supporting cast. But the studio, along with some of the talent's reps, claim nothing's been decided."

On the lack of a decision on key castings, a source told Variety, "there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen, a lot of people who need to approve things". As for whether deadline pressure gave agents any advantage in crafting deals for their clients, the rep said: "Not necessarily, especially with the way the business is these days. You're lucky if you can make the deal."

Produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (Eon Productions) and directed by Martin Campbell, CASINO ROYALE is scheduled for release November 17, 2006. Principal photography started on January 30th 2006, with locations in the UK, Czech Republic (Prague), Italy, and the Bahamas. It will be British actor Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond. He is the sixth actor to play the 007 role in the franchise.
