Quantum of Solace Rome Premiere
8th November 2008

Bond and his girl both made it to Rome for the Italian premiere of "Quantum of Solace" on Wednesday 5th November 2008.

Daniel Craig, recovered from the flu which prevented him for appearing at the Lucerne event the previous night, was joined by girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell on the red carpet. Olga Kurylenko, who plays the new Bond girl Camille in the film, wore a stunning black dress that wowed the thousands of fans who queued for hours to catch a glimpse of the cast.

The screening was held at the Warner Cinema in the Piazza della Repubblic in Rome. Craig and Kurylenko were joined by Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini who plays Rene Mathis, director Marc Forster and producer Barbara Broccoli.

Earlier in the day, a photocall was held at the Hotel St. Regis Grand in the city. Cast members Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Giancarlo Giannini and director Marc Forster posed for the press and fielded some questions.

Speaking at the packed press conference, Craig was asked about the historic US election of Barack Obama the previous night. "After Barack Obama's victory I think we might have reached the moment for a coloured 007", he said. "I think the role is well suited to a coloured actor because the character created by (Bond author) Ian Fleming in the 1950's has gone through many changes. However, I think that this eventuality would probably make Fleming turn in his grave."

"Quantum of Solace" opened nationwide in Italy on Friday 7th November 2008.

Additional events are to be held in Valencia, Sydney and Tokyo.
