Skyfall Train Departs

To mark its unprecedented success at the UK box office and its release on Blu-ray and DVD, 'SKYFALL' has become the first film to lend its name to a train in the UK, after the East Coast train was unveiled on Platform 007 at London King's Cross Station today. SKYFALL is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 18th February from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

SKYFALL actresses Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny) and Bérénice Marlohe (Severine), alongside Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and East Coast Managing Director Karen Boswell unveiled vehicle number 91007, the London to Edinburgh service that has been permanently named 'SKYFALL'.

The unique partnership has seen all eleven carriages of the train completely wrapped in eye-catching artwork from SKYFALL, with actors and filmmakers taking its maiden journey to Scotland, alongside journalists from around the world.

Skyfall actress Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny) said "This train is absolutely amazing and I'm so pleased to be part of the unveiling today. It says a lot about the success of Skyfall that it has become the first ever train to be named after a film in the UK and it's so exciting that it's going into public service from Monday."

East Coast Managing Director Karen Boswell said, "We're thrilled that actors, producers and writers from the most successful Bond film are joining us on-board our newly named SKYFALL train. They will enjoy our First Class complimentary service, as they travel on one of our most popular routes from London to Edinburgh, following in the footsteps of Bond to his ancestral home in SKYFALL. It's really exciting to launch an East Coast train as 'SKYFALL' and I am sure our customers will look forward to travelling on it too."

SKYFALL's first journey was taken by worldwide journalists who interviewed the film's actors, writers and producers on board, whilst a full carriage became a dedicated Blu-ray screening lounge, showcasing the all new Blu-ray Bonus Features.

The train's announcements were taken over for the day by film critic and TV presenter Alex Zane and passengers enjoyed SKYFALL Martinis served by Savoy mixologist Erik Lorincz, who designed a cocktail inspired by the film.

Members of the public will have their first opportunity to get on-board the SKYFALL train on Monday 18th February when it is scheduled to operate the flagship four-hour "Flying Scotsman" service from Edinburgh to London, departing at 05.40. It will then be used on various services across the East Coast route.

SKYFALL itself features two classic train scenes - a thrilling chase on the Istanbul Railway in the opening sequence, along with an epic London Underground sequence in which a tube train literally goes off the rails when villain Silva (Javier Bardem) wreaks havoc in the Underground network. James Bond has had no shortage of train adventures on the silver screen over the past fifty years - from fight sequences in OCTOPUSSY and THE SPY WHO LOVED ME to more recent moments in CASINO ROYALE.
