Devil May Care Song

John Berge has been recognized as Norway’s leading Bond
expert for a number of years. Now Berge, who is also an artist,
has made a homage to his favourite fictional character. Devil May
Care, the same title as Sebastian Faulks 2008 continuation
novel,
evokes elements of a Bond movie, with
its suggestive atmosphere and
highly
catchy
chorus. The song is written and performed by John Berge and produced
by Robbie Bronnimann in his Robot Studio in Somerset, England.
The music video was filmed late winter in two Norwegian cities
(Kristiansund and Oslo), directed by Sverre Mollan.
"I wrote the song as a declaration of love for the
movie franchise", says Berge. He has published
several James Bond comic books and is often interviewed on national
TV and radio when the subject matter is James Bond. "I especially
admire John Barry’s contributions to the movies,
and I’ve always been a fan of the best title songs, says
Berge.
Which ones do you like the best? "I have
to be honest and say it’s been a long time since I was
impressed by any of them, but in the recent years the last great
one is The World is Not Enough by Garbage/David Arnold and Licence
to Kill. I also have a soft spot for a-ha, Duran Duran, and the
Sheena Easton one. But they were nearly all great in the golden
age, he says."
Producer Robbie Bronnimann is known from his longtime collaboration
with Howard Jones, and recently had a co-written track featured
on
hit album Pink Friday by US artist Nicki Minaj and is also producing
up and coming Japanese act Elixia. Bronnimann has also remixed
for the likes of Chicane, Ferry Corsten & Ministry of Sound.
"John has a very good pop voice. A lot of people from the UK compares
him to a-ha, but I think that’s only because
we are not used to hearing so many Norwegian singers. But it’s
good company to be part of," Bronnimann says. "John has a love
of electronic music, and you can hear his inspiration come from
bands like Depeche Mode. At the same time he loves
the 70s sound, for instance Supertramp. We haven’t tried
to copy any band or sound, but rather bring forth John’s
own personality in the songs and create his own sound," the producer
explained.

The music video for Devil May Care is
directed by Sverre Mollan. The EP of the song is now available
at iTunes Store, Amazon.com, etc.
John Berge says he’s inspired by artists like The
Bee Gees, Supertramp, ELO, ABBA, a-ha, Seal, Alphaville,
Depeche Mode, Keane, and Tears for Fears.
John Berge is currently recording more tracks with Mr. Bronnimann
in England and is planning to release his album Keep Moving
Forwards by autumn 2011.
