'Tomorrow Never Dies' celebrates its 20th anniversary later this year. Back in January 1997, work had begun on the pre-credits sequence. MI6 dug through the archives for Pierce Brosnan's take on what his second adventure as James Bond 007 would have in store for audiences.

"Well this is my second one," he said before taking a pause. "When I came to 'GoldenEye' I had to just forget all the other ones that had gone before me. Having acknowledged them, having respected them - certainly Connery's work - but then push them aside and say 'this is where we start from.' This is the beginning of a new generation."

Pierce Brosnan and Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies
"If you're going to put a woman in my arms this time, make it someone who counts. Make it someone from his past. Make it someone who he loved. And that role is played by Teri Hatcher." - Pierce Brosnan

"The car comes into being through Q's workshop at the beginning of the film. So the BMW is there in all its glory and it's a remote control car. I have a telephone and I can operate the car from the phone on its own screen. So the bad guys surround the car but Bond is upstairs and has just lost this beautiful woman. He comes down and the car is electrified, the baddies are gassed, puts on the remote control and the car comes around, the window goes down and he dives in... In a car park... In Germany."

"Michelle Yeoh is a star in her own right. She's spectacular at what she does. I don't think I've seen a Bond leading lady who equips herself as well as she does. Jonathan Pryce is stellar. He's a wonderful actor. We have a really flamboyant, maniacal, charismatic villain and... the greater the villain, the greater the hero."
