As 'Casino Royale' celebrates its 10th anniversary, MI6 looks back to the making of the film with rarely seen behind the scenes video from the production. This fifth and final installment focusses on the Aston Martin stunt and Venice location shoot.
The first shots in this montage include the world record breaking Aston Martin DBS barrel-roll. Unbeknownst to fans at the time, this irked Aston Martin no end. The stunt did require a significant air canon to make the car flip, but a small skirmish between Aston Martin and EON's publicity teams occurred behind the scenes as the luxury car maker did not want to have the public believe they made unsafe vehicles.

The action rounds out with clips of the gun battle finale as well as a leisurely sail through the canals of Venice. Authorities in Venice granted producers permission to sail James Bond's yacht, called Spirit 54, along the Grand Canal between the Accademia and Rialto bridges. No-one can remember exactly the last time a pleasure yacht sailed in the Grand Canal, but it's believed to have been several centuries ago.
"In St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco), we were allowed to use an empty building as the bank where Bond looks for Vesper. Of course, it is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world, and as soon as we had completed the work and opened the door, we were inundated with tourists trying to change money," recalled production designer Peter Lamont.
