MGM digitally remastered the Roger Moore era of 007 adventures for the first time in widescreen

To mark the 30th anniversary of the film series, MGM re-issued the James Bond back catalogue in the UK on VHS with digitally remastered versions. Fans could buy the tapes in either traditional television 4:3 aspect ratio, or for the first time, letterboxed widescreen.
"This programme has been produced by state of the art digital transfer from the original film materials to give the highest possible quality," boasted the back cover of each tape. It was a welcome relief at the time as, with no Bond film on the immediate horizon, there had not been any 007 releases since 1989's 'Licence To Kill'.

The Roger Moore era was issued in 1993, following the six films of Sean Connery the year previous. Both used original artwork from the poster campaigns. George Lazenby's 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' was not part of this series and it would be a further two years before the film was included in the next series release by MGM to tie in with 'GoldenEye'.
