Bond's new BMW is a silver Z8 roadster, a far cry from the dull executive 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies. The car boasts a maneuverable ground-to-air missile launching pad, and a needle thin "sonic" laser beam which allows 007 to listen in on conversations taking place in buildings in the vicinity of the car. As usual, rockets are fitted behind the headlamps.
What's more, the car can be driven by a remote handset, and is even able to drive itself to the handset by using sensors built into the car.

Use

The Z8 makes brief appearences during the mission until it is destroyed. Bond uses the Z8 as a safe haven to shoot down a King helicopter during the Caviar Factory assault, but after successfully destroying one chopper, a second appears from behind the car and proceeds to saw it in half.

Specs

Q and his new assistant "R", packed it full of advanced technology - including the absolute latest in intercepts, surveillance and countermeasures. The car is fitted with Titanium plating and armour, a multitasking head-up display, and six beverage cup holders. Apparently indestructible, and all in all, rather well stocked.

Debriefing

The "big brother" to the Z3, which was introduced in GoldenEye, the Z8 will uses a mighty 5,0 litre V8 powerplant to push 300kW of power through the rear wheels of this mean machine, allowing 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

The World is Not Enough was BMW's third collaboration with the Bond film franchise. The launch of the Z3 roadster in Goldeneye created enormous demand for that vehicle, which completely sold out in its first production year. The Z8 went on sale in early 2000.
