'Boyd on Bond' event in London, Monday 28th October

13-Oct-2013 • Event

Event: Boyd on Bond
Location: The Royal Institution of Great Britain, 21 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4BS
Date: Monday 28th October 2013
Time: 19:00

In a break from their usual format, William Boyd will join The Guardian for a special James Bond Book Club. He will talk to John Mullan about the genius of Ian Fleming and the enduring appeal of his iconic spy. He'll also introduce his new novel, Solo, the latest addition to the Bond series, set in 1969. All the essential Bond elements are here – cocktails, fast cars, sharp suits - in a tale spanning three continents as the veteran spy (he's 45) embarks on an unauthorized mission during a trip to America.

Tickets are £12.

William Boyd is the author of eleven novels, including Any Human Heart, An Ice-Cream War and Restless, which won the 2006 Costa novel of the year award. Boyd is the third author to write a James Bond novel in recent years: Sebastian Faulks published Devil May Care in 2008, on the 100th anniversary of Fleming's birth, which was followed by Jeffrey Deaver's Carte Blanche in 2011.
