Sam Smith speaks about 'Writing's On The Wall'

08-Sep-2015 • Spectre (2015)

Now that Sam Smith has been confirmed as the title artist for the new Bond film, SPECTRE, Reuters caught a moment with the singer-songwriter to chat about composing and recording a Bond theme.

"It was hard actually. I think it was harder than normal because everyone kind of guessed at the beginning and said it was going to be me and I had to just be really good at lying," Smith says.

He says the new track isn't departing far from his usual style: "I wanted to inject as much me as I could into the song and then dress it in a Bond way if you know what I mean, I sing love songs that what I sing and that's what I wanted to do - I wanted to write a huge love song."

Smith is joining a band of British performers that include Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, so the artist jokes: "Now hopefully me and Shirley can have a coffee."

Smith and Bond fans will get to hear the track later this month, when it becomes available to download on 25th September.
