'SPECTRE' opens to $5.25m preview night in USA

06-Nov-2015 • Spectre (2015)

The new James Bond film 'SPECTRE' finally opened in the USA and Canada last night with Thursday preview screenings (starting from 7pm local time) in 3,221 theaters.

Danial Craig's fourth outing as 007 raked in $5.25 million from the evening screenings.

Making comparisons to the last outing, 'Skyfall', is difficult as that film opened exclusively on 463 IMAX screens on Thursday and made $2.2m. It added another $2.4m from regular screenings at midnight for a Thursday total of $4.6m.

Many box office pundits are predicting that 'SPECTRE' will not match the $88.3m record-setting 'Skyfall' for its US opening weekend due to competition at the box-office with the new 'Peanuts' movie opening at the same time. But 'SPECTRE' has a higher screen count than 'Skyfall' to offset.
