Panama cited as Bond 22 filming location, coastal sites may double South America

30-Sep-2007 • Quantum Of Solace

Shooting for the 22nd James Bond film could be heading to Panama if reports in local press are accurate.

According to TeleMetro, location filming for Daniel Craig's second outing as 007 will take place in the country at several sites where agreements have already been signed.

Although technically one of 23 countries in North America, it is expected that the coasts of Panama will double a South American country.

The news in inline with an earlier casting announcement that the Bond girl will have "South American roots".

Panama, officially the Republic of Panama, is considered to be wholly part of North America by most authorities, though some categorize it as a transcontinental nation connecting the north and south part of the Americas. It borders Costa Rica to the north-west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. It is an international business center and is also a transit country. In Central America, it is the second most industrialized country, behind El Salvador.

Previous James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan shot on location in the country for "The Tailor of Panama" in 2001.
