`Devil May Care` discounts help keep #1 spot, loses pace elsewhere

09-Jun-2009 • Literary

The mass-market paperback edition of Sebatian Faulks' James Bond novel "Devil May Care" joined the Official UK Top 50 in 14th position in its first week, with a 12,609 part-week sale, 2,636 copies short of the week's highest new entry, Sheila O'Flanagan's Someone Special which débuted in 6th place.

Selling at half-price of better at most online retailers, the book has taken a slump in its second week with the exception of one retailer where it is placed #1 in their "better than half price fiction" chart.

#1 - WH Smith
#29 - Borders.co.uk (best selling fiction)
#24 - Amazon.co.uk (contemporary fiction)
Outside top 100 - Play.com
