Idris Elba continuing to shoot down Bond rumours

30-Jul-2016 • Actor News

Whilst on the press junket for his new film, 'Star Trek Beyond', conversation inevitably turns to 007.

Asked by Good Morning America about if he was connected to the franchise, the answer was a resounding no: "if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there hasn’t been any talks between me and the studio".

The 43 year-old actor - known for BBC's 'Luther', 'The Wire' and a slew of sci-fi/fantasty films in recent years, believes he's too old for the Bond role.

"If I’m really honest man, I think I’m too old for that man, running around in cars and ladies and martinis," Elba says.

As for appearing in the re-booted Star Trek franchise, Elba says he grew up watching the original TV series. “And I wanted to do the prosthetic thing," he added. Elba's prosthetics for the character Krall took four hours to apply each day.
