Becoming Bond Lazenby documentary coming to DVD next month

21-Oct-2017 • Collecting

The quirky, honest and long-awaited documentary about George Lazenby's time in 007's famous tuxedo is coming to DVD.

Director Josh Greenbaum interviewed Lazenby for over 28 hours as he opened up about his childhood in Australia and how he chased a love-interest to London against the wishes of her father.

Told with quirky re-enactments (co-starring Jane Seymour as Lazenby's agent) and a beautiful sense of humour, the Hulu original documentary is now coming to DVD in the UK.

You can preorder online today for a 6th November release.

In the latest MI6 Confidential, Josh Greenbaum talks about pushing past the character of Lazenby - the "one time" Bond and seeing the humanity beneath.

"He was like many who’ve risen to fame, he’s lived on as a character – a caricature. As a documentarian, I always seek to humanise, to find the essence of people. We are way more complex. His story, as he says himself, at some point in his career he became a punchline. He became a Trivial Pursuit answer. A joke. As you see in the film, people laugh about him and his decision to turn it all down. I wanted to find out how does a man, a poor guy from a small town in Australia, bail out of middle school, become a car mechanic… how does that guy become James Bond?"
