Update 10/04/12: Monica Gabor

Bond Girl Candidates

Bérénice Marlohe explained the lengths she went to in order to secure an audition which ultimately led to her winning a Bond Girl part in the new James Bond film "Skyfall". Now some of the losing candidates are coming out of the woodwork and talking about their brief encounters with 007.

Romanian model Monica Gabor (pictured below) turned down a role in 'Skyfall' according to press reports in her native country. The 25 year-old reportedly walked away from an on-screen fling with 007 after her husband Irinel Columbeanu, a wealthy businessman 30 years her senior, disapproved. The couple say she is stepping away from any publicity to raise a family. Gabor was voted the sexiest woman in Romania by FHM, and won Top Model Romania in 2005 before giving birth to her first daughter in 2007. It is not known which part she declined, but it is suspected to be the small Bond Girl role recently secured by Greek actress Tonia Sotiropoulou just a few weeks before her filming starts in Turkey this month.

Jessica Gomes (pictured below), an Australian model of Singaporean-Chinese and Portuguese heritage, and who has appeared in five consecutive Swimsuit editions of Sports Illustrated magazine, told press in her home country that she performed a screentest for "Skyfall" last year whilst in Korea where she was taking part in 'Dancing with the Stars'.

"I am sure they got the whole world to audition for that one," Gomes said. "She (a Bond girl) is powerful, sophisticated and ready to take on the world and fight bad guys. She is awesome. It is definitely a great fantasy."

It is not known what part 26 year-old Gomes was auditioning for. Perhaps the Sévérine role that Marlohe ultimately landed?

Fellow Australian model Nicole Trunfio (pictured below), was also screentested for "Skyfall".
