The Cape Town Film Commission's CEO Denis
Lille spoke to Times
Live today to try and secure some 007 action for the
nation's capital. "We have been publicly lobbying
the Bond production company," Lille said. "There
has been no official announcement yet, but there has also
been no denial. The rumour has been out there a couple
of months, so I am assuming that things will be happening
soon."
A 007 adventure in the Roger Moore era may have taken
advantage of the Film Commission's push to have Bond swinging
between the Table Mountain cable cars and swimming in the
shark-laden ocean surrounding the city, but the features
may fall on deaf ears when it comes to a Bond production
in the 21st Century. The planned Bond 23 stunt
sequences on trains may be better suited to other parts
of the country.
Given that filming in Pinewood is scheduled to kick off
in November, and location shooting is expected to start in
January, it would seem that Cape Town may not be part of
the Bond 23 production team's plans if the city's Film Commission
is still waiting to start discussions. |
