MI6 Competition: MI6 has teamed up with Ian Fleming Publications to offer readers the chance to win copies of Ian Fleming's 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.' In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, this edition features the original text now with brand-new illustrations by Thomas Gilbert throughout.
The story follows the adventures of the Pott family: Caractacus, Mimsie, Jemima and Jeremy – the family of crackpots who just invented an incredible whistling sweet. Their next project? Fixing up their new car – a very, very special car...Join them on the adventure of a lifetime, over the sea and through the sky, into the clutches of a gang of villainous gangsters...
This gripping fast-paced children’s adventure story was written by Ian Fleming to read to his son, Caspar. This is the first new edition of the original text in 10 years.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was first published in 1964 with illustrations by John Burningham. The car was inspired by the racing cars built by Count Louis Zborowski at Higham Park in Kent. Sadly, Fleming never lived to see the book published: he died in 1964, two months before the book’s release. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the feature-film, loosely based on the book and co- written by Roald Dahl, was released in 1968. A stage musical is touring the UK in 2024.
