First FRWL Action Scenes Revealed
1st February 2005

As MI6 exclusively revealed last month, the next James Bond game from EA will be titled "From Russia With Love" and set around the 1963 film. 007's likeness in the third person perspective game will be none-other than the original Bond - Sir Sean Connery. The first details of game action has been leaked today courtesy of an EA internship event at the University of Florida (USA).

IGN reports that scenes were shown of "From Russia With Love" on a development workstation. "The first scene portrayed Sean Connery flying across the sky in a jetpack in small town set in the 1960s. After landing, Connery jumps into a sports car with a desirable girl and a car chase-scene ensues. The scene ends as Connery's driving antics knock down a water tower."

Fans will spot that EA have lifted the Bell Textron Jet Pack from the "Thunderball" teaser sequence, which also featured in EA's first next-generation game "Agent Under Fire" (2001). It was expected that EA would expand the storyline of the 1963 film to create extra action for the "From Russia With Love" videogame.

Also on show was some of the CGI cut scene work that EA completed for the Bond6 project - which would have been the next 007 game had it not been for Pierce Brosnan stepping down from the role late last year. As MI6 revealed last month, most of the animation and plot for Bond6 had been completed in 2004, only to be put on hold after Brosnan publicly distanced himself from the role.

At the University of Florida event, EA showed "Pierce Brosnan sneaking on a boat dock, firing and blowing up explosive crates, and then jettisoning the location in a hybrid boat/hovercraft". Since Bond6 was put "on ice", some of this CGI sequence was reworked for the "GoldenEye: Rogue Agent" television commercial.

Internet rumours have confused the footage shown of Brosnan (in the axed Bond6 project) with the idea of another title being in development. This is not true. The only 007 licence game currently in development is "From Russia With Love". EA LA, who last year produced the critically slammed "GoldenEye: Rogue Agent", will not be producing a sequel to the villainous FPS shooter after it suffered poor sales.

Development of the game will take place at EA Redwood studios (USA) and will ship in late 2005 / early 2006 on Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. An official announcement of the game is expected sometime in Q1 2005. It is unclear how faithful EA's videogame of "From Russia With Love" will be to the 1963 film.
