American singer and songwriter Patti Russo is perhaps best known for her rock duets with the late singer Meatloaf, working together for 20 years from 1993 to 2013. But if things had worked out differently, she would have also been known to James Bond fans as a title song performer.

In 2014 she teamed up with Tonino Speciale and wrote the ballad 'When it Comes to Love' that summer. According to various sources and Russo herself, it was submitted for consideration for the upcoming 24th James Bond film, which would ultimately become 'SPECTRE'. The song references the 'Queen of Hearts,' which is a callback to Vesper Lynd, as well as gambling elements seen in 'Casino Royale'.

Here, Russo tells an audience that this is the "one that got away" and should have been in the Bond film.

With the production turning the song down, Russo then collaborated with Regi and Lester Williams to turn it into a dance track. Featuring her original vocals, 'When it Comes to Love' was released as a single on 31 August 2015, a couple of months before the film opened.
