Product placement reached a new high in Pierce Brosnan's era as James Bond 007, especially during "The World Is Not Enough" . MI6 looks back at the campaigns for some of the main players.

Church's Shoes
You really could follow in James Bond's footsteps by slipping on a pair of Church's Shoes. 007 wore their "Presley" style which cost £170 in 1999. The company ran adverts tempted customers to "step into Bond's shoes" - quite literally.

Heineken
Heineken first partnered 007 for 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies", and continued their association for Brosnan's third film. Gadget master Desmond Llewelyn played Q in thirty second TV and radio adverts describing equipment he had invented to help 007 enjoy a cold one. Heineken's print advert came with the tag line "Some things shouldn't be shaken or stirred."

BMW
Before the Z8 had even appeared in showrooms, BMW launched a huge advertising campaign based on Q-Branch's selection for Bond's new mission. David Lubars of BMW's ad agency said "We are truly the makers of the best car in the world - a James Bond quality car. It just shines on the brand. Even though you can't get that car, the BMW you can get - you get a little piece of that car".

BMW ran an extensive campaign, encompassing magazine, TV, radio and online ads featuring their Z8 in association with 007. A shockwave videogame was even available through the company's website where players could drive the Z8 through Baku avoiding aerial attacks from helicopters.

*That means, "Look at James Bond's new BMW Z8," for those of you not in Government Intelligence. Four-hundred horsepower engine. Aluminum space frame. Stunning design. It's going to be tough to keep this one a secret.

Four things that will inevitably lead to the downfall of a Bond villain:
1. Spelling out your entire evil plan before attempting to kill James Bond
2. Assuming Bond is dead before actually seeing him die
3. Sending a beautiful woman in to do your dirty work
4. (BMW Z8 Image)
These helpful tips brought to you courtesy of BMW, makers of the car that has been giving James Bond a rather unfair advantage for three missions straight. See Bond's new BMW Z8 in The World Is Not Enough.

The one option we couldn't bear to put in the new James Bond car.
One look at the new BMW Z8, and even the coldest of government hearts could hardly blame us. See James Bond drive the Z8 in The World Is Not Enough starting November 19th."
