On June 8th, 1994, Pierce Brosnan was unvelied as the new James Bond to the world's press, although it wasn't the first time he had accepted the role, after having to bow out of "The Living Daylights" in 1997.
The press was alerted a day beforehand via fax from EON Productions and invited to attend the event held in the drawing room of the Regent Hotel in London at 12:30pm.

After a gap of four years since Timothy Dalton's second Bond movie "Licence To Kill", a series of legal disputes had stalled the next film going in to production. The delay caused Dalton to gracefully bow out, and gave Brosnan a second chance at the famous tuxedo.
The video report below comes from E! Entertainment News and gives a window in to how the US media covered the announcement.
