Turkish tabloids spread crazy 'Skyfall' CIA conspiracy theory

28-Mar-2012 • Draft News

If you thought the British tabloids were bad at concocting stories out of thin air, then the Turkish papers are setting a new low for James Bond coverage.

The IHA news agency is making unfounded reports that the "Skyfall" location shoot in Adana, southern Turkey, is "being used to transport arms for Syrian dissidents who are fighting Ashad soldiers."

According to the reports, 007 filming is taking place near an air base, and as the railway has been shut down for several days for filming, local papers are making the leap that "Skyfall" is just a "cover up for arms transportation to Syria by CIA."

The papers claim that the filming is a ruse because Daniel Craig has not been seen on location. Maybe they haven't heard of Second Unit?

They also make the argument that tight security and a ban on media coverage of the filming locations is out of the ordinary and just part of the cover up.

Tin foil hats seem to be in short supply in Turkish news rooms.
