Hugh Jackman confesses, he started the `next James Bond` rumour

16-Apr-2004 • Casino Royale

In a startlingly honest exchange, Hugh Jackman has admitted to starting the rumour that he will be taking over from Pierce Brosnan as the next 007.

Whilst chatting to fans in California this week, Jackman said "I started the rumor, I mean, who wouldn`t want to play James Bond?"

The rumours peaked back in February when tabloids and fan sites claimed Brosnan had been axed due to his age, and top of the rumoured replacements was the Australian `Van Helsing` star.

His agent told MI6, "Hugh has never officially been approached to play the role of James Bond", he said, clearing up the Jackmania hype.
