`Diamonds Are Forever` moon buggy and `OHMSS` coat of arms sold at auction

15-Dec-2004 • Bond News

Two famous James Bond items went under the hammer at Christie's auction house in London yesterday.

A moon buggy based on the one used by Sean Connery in 1971 James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever", which had been fully restored by its previous owner, sold for £23,900.

It was bought by Planet Hollywood, the celebrity-themed restaurant chain which decorates its outlets with film memorabilia. The buggy will be put in the group's Las Vegas casino.

"We're very excited to get this important piece and will be driving it straight back, where it's going to our new Las Vegas casino," said Planet Hollywood chairman Robert Earl.

In another Bond-related sale, a coat of arms belonging to Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the villain from 1969 film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", fetched £16,730.
