Amazon says they will keep James Bond films in the cinema

26-Sep-2021 • Bond News

With Daniel Craig exiting the franchise with 'No Time To Die', a creative conundrum on how to reboot the franchise, and impending new ownership of MGM once Amazon's takeover deal completes, there is a lot to ponder for producer Barbara Broccoli.

When asked by Sky what the future of James Bond will be under Amazon's ownership of their studio partner, she said she has received reassurances.

"We focussed on making the films for theatrical release and… I think that’s our position. [Amazon] certainly has told us that the films will be theatrical films in the future. And we’ll see what happens."

Craig said he is grateful that Bond producers “held their nerve” to get his last 007 outing into cinemas rather than putting it online only.
