China was the biggest market for 'No Time To Die' this weekend

08-Nov-2021 • No Time To Die

China led the worldwide box-office for 'No Time To Die' this weekend (November 5th-8th 2021).

In its second weekend on release, the Middle Kingdom racked up $11.3m for the film (although MGM will only see 25% of that figure due to Chinese regulations). It marked a steeper than expected 59% drop from its debut weekend taking its total to $49.2m over 10 days. Some 1,750 screens were closed across 50 cities due to COVID measures, which accounts for 15% of the nation's capacity.

Chinese box-office analysts Maoyan project a $63m to $65m final total, but that was before news broke that 'No Time To Die' will be available on VOD in the USA this week and high-quality copies of the film will flood piracy sites.

Despite the plunge, it did hold on to the #1 spot ahead of 'The Battle at Lake Changjin' which took $8.7m (its total now stands at an enormous $874m).
