Director Bart Layton confirms he turned down Bond 25 job

29-Oct-2018 • No Time To Die

British director Bart Layton, who was a front-runner to replace Danny Boyle, talked candidly about his feelings about Bond to press at the Rome film festival, where he was promoting his latest film 'American Animals.'

When asked if he was offered the job of directing Bond 25 by producer Barbara Broccoli, he confirmed: "Yeah, that's true."

"I was very flattered to be asked about the Bond film. For me, it's too big. At this point, I don't feel ready and I don't want to do something on that level. Also, I feel like I want to come in at the beginning."

"I would consider maybe doing it in the future, for sure. That would be exciting and fun, but at this point, I don't feel like I'm ready for that pressure."

"I think it's time for a re-invention. It's time to modernize that franchise in an interesting way. It would be exciting to be part of that."
