Ed Sheeran had started writing Bond 25 title song

21-Oct-2022 • Bond News

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran narrowly missed out on the title song gig for the 25th James Bond film due to the change in director.

"I'm not gonna pretend it didn't hurt not doing it," Sheeran told a podcast recently. "I was within a fucking gnat's pube of doing one. And they changed directors and then they just changed scripts and that was it. We'd done all the meetings, I started writing it."

Barbara Broccoli had expressed interest in him back in 2017. Sheeran reportedly asked his manager Stuart Camp routinely about it, but he said "the thing they do last is the music."

When producers split from director Danny Boyle due to 'creative differences,' Sheeran also lost his opportunity and Billie Eilish swooped in.
