Amazon to publish Ian Fleming's James Bond novels in North America
The literary James Bond has a new publisher in North America: Amazon.com
The online behemoth has secured the North American rights from Ian Fleming Publications to the classic spy novels in paper and e-book editions, from 'Casino Royale' through the thirteen subsequent titles.
The books will be available from Amazon as of this summer.
Amazon has steadily expanded its publishing programme over the past few years, signing up such celebrities as Penny Marshall and Billy Ray Cyrus and setting up imprints for a wide variety of genres.
The rights agreement with IFP will keep 007 at Amazon until 2022.
Penguin previously held the rights to North America, and also recently lost out on a
contract renewal in the UK to Vintage, an imprint of
Random House.
