Ben 'The Stig' Collins stunt driving for 007 in Istanbul (photos)

Famous for his role time as The Stig in the hugely popular BBC television series 'Top Gear', before departing the show with a disagreement with producers about keeping his identity secret, Ben Collins may soon become better known for his stunt driving duties in the James Bond series.

The former racing driver was once again behind the wheel for 007 in a chase sequence shot on location in Istanbul last week. Positioned atop the grey Land Rover being 'driven' by Daniel Craig and Naomie Harris, Collins rammed the vehicle into the side of a black Audi, almost destroying it. Craig was also seen climbing on to an old brown motorbike as he tried to escape from enemies.

The vehicle has a custom-built frame constructed on the roof directly above the driver’s seat. Meanwhile, special rigging on the left-hand side of the vehicle allowed the cameramen to capture the fast-paced action through a window. No fewer than 15 £35,000 Audi's were destroyed during the filming of the sequence, including six during pre-filming tests.
