Newsnight asks, is James Bond's Britishness part of his attraction?

31-May-2012 • Media Alert

BBC Newsnight's Stephen Smith explores the idea of British power and influence embodied in the character of James Bond and asks why we are so fond of this "old-fashioned, British hero."

He speaks to Michael G. Wilson, the producer of many of the popular James Bond films, about the famous spy's unique, British appeal.

Author William Boyd, who will be writing a new story about James Bond set in 1969, said the character has always caught the imagination of the British nation.
