Dame Judi Dench reflects on the responsibility of her Bond role

Judi Dench's "M" is a stalwart of the James Bond franchise, which is celebrating it's 50th anniversary today.

The British actress - who plays 007's boss in the forthcoming "Skyfall" for the seventh consecutive adventure - reflected on the "responsibility" of the role and the institutional status of 007 in British culture.

"I think the way the films have been done, they're so essentially British, and done with enormous affection," says Dench. "I didn't realise quite the responsibility I would have, until the film came out and everyone said, 'oh a woman in this position'."
