How does Bond's lifestyle compare to that of a real spy?

07-Nov-2012 • Bond Style

In order to celebrate the much-loved Spy-fi genre, CIA case officers were quizzed by The Star to see how much their lifestyle - and their jobs - matched the most famous of all fictional spies, James Bond 007:

Licence To Kill - Fiction
The job of a spy is to gather information, not to carry out assassinations

Spies are seductive - Fact
The main job of CIA case officers is to recruit “foreign agents” to spy on their countries. So charm and good looks don’t hurt, said Lindsay Moran

Flashy cars and fabulous locales - Fiction
“When I had an issued car, it was a Toyota Corolla,” Fred Rustmann said, laughing. “My own car was a Mercedes, but I had to pay for that.”

The ‘lone wolf’ - Fact
James Bond is known for his many romantic conquests, but never settling down. This lifestyle is familiar to CIA officers, said Moran.
