'Skyfall' breaks $100m in USA with record Monday, UK aims at 'Avatar' records

13-Nov-2012 • Skyfall

As well as breaking opening weekend records for the franchise in the USA, "Skyfall" more than doubled its usual Monday takings at the box office and broke the $100m+ mark in just 4 days.

In large part due to Veterans Day being a government holiday, "Skyfall" racked up $11.3m on Monday alone, which is 275% up on "Quantum of Solace".

Strong word of mouth, a CinemaScore of 'A', and a 91% 'Liked' rating on RottenTomatoes is helping boost audiences.

Back in the UK, the film now stands at $117.5m and has become the highest grossing film of 2012. But the stretch goal is surely the all time UK box office record, currently held by "Avatar" with $150m. Another strong weekend will put it in reach.
