'Skyfall' amongst contenders for Best Visual Effects award at Oscars

The new James Bond film "Skyfall" is in the running for the Best Visual Effects prize at the upcoming Academy Awards.

007 was included in the shortlist with Snow White and a whole lot of hobbits and superheroes.

Also listed are blockbusters "Prometheus," "The Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Amazing Spider-Man".

A total of 10 films made the cut for visual-effects nominations short list.

Members of the academy’s visual-effects branch will view 10-minute excerpts from each of the films on Jan. 3, and then pick five nominees for the Oscars.

Nominations for the 85th Oscars will be announced 10th January with the ceremony held on 24th February 2013.
