Rumour: Activision have terminated their licence to thrill with 007 games

07-Jan-2013 • Gaming

According to 'unnamed but reliable sources' by NeoGamr, Activision has ended its licence agreement with MGM & Eon Productions to produce videogames based on the James Bond properties.

When Activision originally took over the licence from EA (who terminated a contract that would run to 2010 four years early in 2006), Activision's licence was said to extend in to 2014.

Gamers noticed last week that Activision had been actively removing its titles from online services such as Steam, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Activision's latest Bond game, "007 Legends", suffered poor reviews and equally disappointing sales, causing the developer Eurocom to shut its doors in bankruptcy. Activision also shuttered developer Bizarre Creations after "007: Blood Stone" failed to live up to expectations.
