'Thunderball' star Earl Cameron given honourary degree (updated with photo)

23-Jan-2013 • Actor News

Earl Cameron, who played the role of Pinder in the 1965 007 adventure "Thunderball" has been awarded with an honourary degree from Warwick University.

Cameron was honoured with a DLitt for “distinguished men and women who have made important contributions to cultural, intellectual, social, economic or political life”.

"It is quite an honour indeed and I must admit it came as a tremendous surprise to me to be asked," the 95-year old actor told the presses.

"I suppose it is because of my career, I have been in over 40 films and have done a huge amount of radio and theatre work.

"But this recognition is wonderful and I am very honoured to accept."
