18-Feb-2013 • Bond News

British tabloids are reporting that Tom Jones - currently serving as one of the judges on UK TV's "The Voice - will be in attendance at the Oscar ceremony this month.

Jones, who preformed the titles to the 1965 007 outing, "Thunderball", had to purportedly abandon shooting of the TV show in order to attend an LA rehearsal for the Oscar's Bond tribute.

Tapping into the Oscars buz, John Virant, who will be overseeing Jones' latest album release in the US and tie-in tour dates said: “Tom Jones possesses one of the most memorable and distinctive voices in pop music and has one of the most written about careers in entertainment. We’re thrilled that he’s chosen to make his home with our company and we look forward to working with him on this wonderful project."

Meanwhile, "industry insiders", are reported to have said of the Oscars plans: "It’ll be a fantastic way of mark this prestigious occasion, getting the two artists who sang 007’s most iconic theme tunes together on the same night. Dame Shirley can do a medley of Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker, while Tom can belt out his signature tune to get everyone watching shaken and stirred."
