New James Bond novel 'Solo' plummets down UK charts

14-Oct-2013 • Literary

The new James Bond continuation novel 'Solo' by William Boyd has tumbled down the UK best-seller charts in its second week on release.

With first week sales of just under 9,000 hardbacks disappointing, the news that 'Solo' has dropped 17 places to #22 in the UK best-seller charts must be worrying for publisher Random House (under the Jonathan Cape imprint).

To put the figures in context, another of Jonathan Cape's new titles, 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' shifted 46,000 in its first day alone despite suffering poor reviews and printing errors.

Amazon UK are selling the hardback just £9, less than half the retail price of £18.99.

The book launched in the USA last week, but its first sales charts are not available yet.
