Director Duncan Jones has left Ian Fleming biopic project

26-Nov-2013 • Bond News

Initially announced as helming back in May 2012, director Duncan Jones has stepped down from the officially backed Ian Fleming biopic project.

The director of "Moon" and "Source Code" is busy with the "Warhammer" big screen adaptation until the end of 2015. The Wrap reports that his schedule was an 'insurmountable obstacle' for the Fleming production.

MI6 understands that casting on Fleming is scheduled for early next year. A new director has yet to be announced.

"Fleming" is based on Andrew Lycett’s biography of Ian Fleming, and the film is expected to explore the author’s life as a true international spy, which helped informed his James Bond books.

K5 International’s Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur are producing the film with PalmStar Media Capital’s Kevin Frakes and Liberty Films’ Stuart Fenegan, as well as Jim Young and Robert Laycock of the Ian Fleming estate.
