Ben Whishaw expected to star in forthcoming Freddie Mercury biopic

The 33 year-old actor who joined the James Bond family as "Q" for "Skyfall", has had his name linked to a new biopic of the Queen rocker Freddie Mercury.

The project is headed up by the "Hotel Babylon" and "Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels " star, Dexter Fletcher, who has recently turned his hand to directing. The film has been in the wings for a few years, and initially the producer, Graham King, sought self-styled character actor Sacha Baron Cohen to play Mercury.

The film is yet to be titled but is expected to be supported by James Bond's old friends at Sony Pictures.
