Daniel Craig has an instinct for speed says his stunt driver

15-Mar-2014 • Bond News

According to Ben Collins, made famous for his mysterious role as The Stig in BBC's Top Gear and for stunt driving and doubling 007 in the recent James Bond films, says Daniel Craig would give anyone a run for their money on a test track.

He told reporters attending a preview of the Bond in Motion event in London that Craig would not only be faster than all the Top Gear presenters but had the skill to beat almost all the people Collins coached for the programme’s ‘star in a reasonably priced car’ segment.

Collins, who taught Craig how to drive Aston Martin cars for the Bond films, said that the only other actor he had taught who had a similar instinct for speed was Tom Cruise.

"With Daniel, he was certainly not shy of going fast. Once the adrenaline was going, you had to [get him to slow down]."

"We’ve done a lot of work with him at Dunsfold Aerodrome [where Top Gear laps are filmed]. He did a full workout, from highspeed driving to the evasive stuff, and he really took to it."
