Danish director Susanne Bier linked to Bond 25

01-Jun-2016 • No Time To Die

Perhaps predictably, after the critical success of 'The Night Manager' and its leading actor Tom Hiddleston touted as a potential future James Bond, it comes as little surprise that the director of the mini-series has also been linked to Bond 25.

According to the Radio Times, Danish director Susanne Bier is "one of the leading contenders to take over from Sam Mendes on the next 007 film."

"Sources ... tell RadioTimes.com that Bier is among a 'handful' of names making up producer Barbara Broccoli’s shortlist to inherit the directing gig from Sam Mendes."

It would be a significant first for the series for a woman to direct.

Bier has helmed a number of well received Danish films, notably 2006's 'After the Wedding' which starred Mads Mikkelsen ('Casino Royale') in the title role.

The only time the series has hired a director who spoke English as a second language was Marc Forster for 'Quantum of Solace.'
