John `Q` Cleese talks about the Bond 21 schedule, and his `Die Another Day` scenes

21-Mar-2004 • Casino Royale

John Cleese, who took over the role of Quartermaster in "Die Another Day", has spoken to About.com regarding the Bond 21 schedule:

When do you do the next Bond?
"Good question. Beginning of 2005, and they usually like to shoot the scenes with Q towards the end. Because as I’m giving Bond the technology, if they shoot the scenes and then find the technology doesn’t work quite as they thought, you’d have to go back and reshoot the scene again. So they tend to shoot him at the end."

He also mentioned the change of routine for "Die Another Day":

"This last movie, they shot Q at the start because he had to go off and smash up the car, so I needed to give it to him before he’d smashed it up."

Thanks to Kerim and Brinke for the alert.
